Community Outreach Spotlight: Champions Together
At CUE Broadcast, community outreach is more than a value—it’s a commitment. In this month’s CUE Tips, we’re proud to highlight a meaningful event that brought students, athletes, and the community together to celebrate inclusion, unity, and school spirit.
Event Spotlight: Champions Together Special Olympics Basketball Game
On January 23, 2026, CUE Broadcast’s Strategic Development Team was honored to sponsor the Champions Together Special Olympics Basketball Game at Kankakee Valley High School. This special evening united students, staff, athletes, families, and community members with one shared goal: creating an inclusive, uplifting experience for everyone involved.
CUE Broadcast was proud to stand alongside sponsors such as the Chicago Bears and the Chicago White Sox, reinforcing a shared commitment to community engagement and inclusive initiatives.
What Is Champions Together?
Champions Together promotes social inclusion through intentionally planned and implemented activities that create meaningful, systems-wide change. Each year, Kankakee Valley High School earns its Champions Together banner by forming a dedicated team of students—both with and without disabilities—alongside staff leaders who collaborate to plan, fundraise, and execute at least one inclusive event that involves both the school and the broader community.
One of the most anticipated traditions is the annual Champions Together Basketball Game, led by Coach Rita Elliott. Students take ownership of the entire experience—designing event shirts, fundraising, securing donations, and preparing for an exciting night cheering on the KV Kougars Girls JV and Varsity Basketball teams. The result is an unforgettable evening filled with school pride, sportsmanship, and genuine connection.
Halftime Highlights: Joy on the Court
One of the most heartwarming moments of the night took place during halftime, when students with special needs participated in a free-throw contest and took turns running up and down the court, shooting hoops and celebrating every basket.
The joy on their faces said it all. Surrounded by cheers from the entire school, each participant was met with applause, encouragement, and excitement. It was a powerful reminder of what inclusion truly looks like—everyone being seen, supported, and celebrated.

United as One: Inclusion Beyond Game Night
In addition to Champions Together, Kankakee Valley also hosts United as One, a club designed to promote inclusion throughout the school year. Meeting monthly during SRT, United as One brings students with disabilities together with their general education peers to play games, dance, socialize, and build meaningful friendships in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Stronger Together
Because of their shared mission, Champions Together and United as One were combined this year under the unified name Champions Together. This allows students to experience inclusion both during and beyond the school day, creating more opportunities for leadership, belonging, and lasting connections.
This impactful program is now co-led by Coach Rita Elliott and Coach Gina Myers, whose dedication and passion continue to inspire students and strengthen the Kankakee Valley community.
CUE Broadcast Is Proud to Support Inclusion
At CUE Broadcast, we believe in supporting initiatives that uplift students, foster inclusion, and demonstrate the power of community coming together. Events like Champions Together reflect the heart of what we stand for—connection, opportunity, and making a positive impact beyond the screen.
Thank you to everyone at Kankakee Valley High School for allowing us to be part of such a meaningful and inspiring evening. We look forward to continuing to champion inclusion in communities we serve.
